When you have a new website, you quickly want to accomplish two things: get it indexed by the search engines and drive some traffic to it. Keeping those two things in mind, here are some tips on link building for your new site.
Social Bookmarking For Quick Indexing
One of the first things I do once I have my new site set up and have at least a few pages of content on them, is to bookmark my homepage and a few of my individual articles. I use stumbleupon, reddit and delicious for this purpose.
By posting the links to my site on those popular social bookmarking sites, search engine spiders will quickly find it my new content and index it, often within 24 hours.
It helps to use an established account that already has some friends or network connection and a few other pages bookmarked. If you're new, spend a little extra time connecting with other users and bookmarking some of their pages along with other interesting articles and blog posts in your niche.
Article Marketing For Indexing and A Strong Backlink
Next, I sit down and write 3 to 5 articles, each about 400 to 500 words long on a general topic of interest to anyone in my market. I submit those articles to EzineArticles.com with a resource box at the end that has one link pointing to my home page and a second link pointing to either a blog post, or a category page.
EzineArticles.com is the strongest and most popular article directory out there and also happens to be constantly crawled by the search engine spiders. By submitting some articles there, I can coax those spiders over to my site and make sure it gets indexed.
Since the links from article directories are followed links, they are also strong backlinks to my site which will help with my site's authority and speed up the time it will take before my content starts to rank.
Guest Blogging For Backlinks and Traffic
Writing blog posts to be published on other people's blogs - in other words guest blogging is another great way to build some strong backlinks. The higher the authority of the blog you are writing for is, the stronger your link will be.
I also like to start guest blogging right away for a new site because it brings me a nice little stream of traffic. Again, if the blog is more popular, and has a large readership, you can expect to see quite a bit of traffic from each post.
Follow these three strategies as whenever you have a new website and you will quickly get indexed by the search engines, get some initial traffic and cut down on the time it will take to start showing up in the serps (search engine results pages).
